Please note a few important things to remember before you stretch.

1) Always be body aware. This means that you are not talking to someone or thinking about something other than what you are doing in the present moment. Focus on your body and feel what it's feeling

2) No pain no gain is NOT the case when it comes to stretching properly. Normally try to hold a stretch for anywhere between 20-30 seconds.  If it hurts then you back off, especially if you’re dealing with an injury.
If you feel your barrier, keep it there for 10-15 seconds and then see if you can push it a little more for another 5-10 seconds. But if you experience sharp pain or unbearable pins & needles then STOP!

3) Always try to hold your stretches for at least 20 to 30 seconds in order to get a true stretch in your entire muscle (belly and tendons). This gives our nervous system the time to adjust to the new length in our muscle.

4) Balance - Always stretch both sides
